Aregbesola’s kinsmen endorse Oyetola as APC leader in Osun



Leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Osun state on Friday reaffirmed and endorsed the immediate past governor of the state, Adegboyega Oyetola as the leader of the party in the state.

The party members from the four Local Government Council Areas of Ijesa-South Federal Constituency added that the party constitution has provided a clear position on party leadership in the state.

Addressing journalists on behalf of the leadership of the party at the APC Secretariat in Ilesa East local government, former Vice Chairman, Johnson Ajilore said the said both Senator Iyiola Omisore and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola are party leaders at the national level but Oyetola leads the party in the state.

His words; “On the issue of leadership of our party in the Osun State, our great party constitution says “The Governor shall be the leader of the party”, and Gboyega Oyetola is the man who was the Governor as at November 2022, technically this man is out leader. Both the Minister and the National Secretary of our party, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Senator Iyiola Omisore are leaders of our party at the national level, but Oyetola leads the party in the state.

“Concerning the composition of the Repositioning Committee, as at the time it was set up, there is no longer The Osun Progressives, TOP, caucus it was dissolved by the leaders, hence, the party put together men of capacity and integrity to dispassionately carry out the herculean task of returning the party to the path of glory”.

Speaking on the leadership of the party in Ijesa-South Federal Constituency, Ajilore said the entire party members endorse and affirmed the leadership of Elder Kunle Odeyemi, stressing that no genuine party member can oppose that choice.

“We are party members and stakeholders from the various local governments in ljesa South Federal Constituency. We believe in the fact that politics is local everywhere and as such, we have confidence in the leadership of the party in Ijesa-South Federal Constituency as currently constituted under the leadership of Elder Kunle Odeyemi”, he added

President Bola Tinubu Suspend Godwin Emefiele as CBN Governor



President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, CFR, from office with immediate effect,” the Director of Information, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Willie Bassey said in a Friday statement.

“This is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

“Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.”

Details Of Meeting Between Tinubu, Ooni Of Ife, Sultan, Other Traditional Rulers Emerge



President Bola Tinubu on Friday met with prominent traditional rulers across the country under the auspices of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) at the State House Conference Centre, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Naija News reports the meeting, which is the first by the President with traditional rulers after his inauguration is part of ongoing consultations with various stakeholders across the country.

The traditional rulers were led into the meeting by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar who is the chairman of the council.

In his opening remarks, the Sultan of Sokoto said the traditional rulers were at the Villa to congratulate the President and pledge their commitment to supporting him in the huge task of running the nation.

He pointed out that the traditional rulers have various professional backgrounds and this would be a ready pool for the President to draw from.

The Sultan on behalf of his colleagues also expressed the confidence of the traditional rulers in the ability of President Tinubu to steer the affairs of the nation aright.

He said: “We thank God for the smooth way the elections took place. Many negative people thought this country will collapse but we are still here.

“We are here for you, for our people and our country. If you don’t reach out to us, we will reach out to you.

“We wish you the most successful tenure in good health.”

On his part, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Adewusi, who is the co-chair of the council, assured President Tinubu of their readiness to work with him in the area of insecurity. He urged the President not to underestimate what they can do.

“There are areas we will like to work with you, one of which is security. It is time to use us the more, we are not saying we are idle…but to make your work easier use us.

“The foundation of this country today are the traditional rulers. We are here to pledge our loyalty and support. We want to work with you to ensure you leave a legacy.

“Don’t underestimate what traditional rulers can do,” he said

Lagos State Youngest Lawmaker Pledges Effective Representation



The thirty-six-year-old youngest member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Sabur Oluwa, has promised his Constituents of effective representation.

Oluwa, who is representing the Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency II at the Assembly, was among the 40 lawmakers inaugurated at the 10th Lagos Assembly on Tuesday.

The lawmakers took the Oath of Office after Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu proclaimed the 10th Assembly on Tuesday.

Oluwa reiterated his commitment to quality representation that would bring speedy development to the constituency and also promote peace and harmony among constituents.

He said; “By the grace of God, the mandate given to me by my constituents in Ajeromi-Ifelodun constituency II will not be betrayed. The confidence they have in me will be justified. The love of my constituents for me, through their votes in the election that brought me in, will be reciprocated.

“The peculiarities of our constituency, being one of the most populous and ethnically diverse in Nigeria, set us apart. We will leverage these to attract the requisite attention and development to Ajegunle.”

“I will ensure effective and sound representation at the House of Assembly, Lagos, to positively impact the lives of Ajegunle people,” the 36 years old lawmaker said.

Oluwa is the youngest lawmaker in the 10th Assembly.
