Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji, has made her debut in the film industry by announcing the release of a film titled “Dark October”.
Fidel Info reports that based on the terrible Aluu Four lynching in 2012, the film was directed by Toka McBaror.
The movie, which is distributed by FilmOne, seeks to highlight the wrong of extrajudicial executions and the significance of justice for everybody.
In the hamlet of Aluu, in the Obio/Akpor local government area, Rivers State, Nigeria, four young men—Ugoing to Obuzor, Lloyd Toku, Chiadika Biringa, and Tekena Elkanah—were wrongfully accused of stealing on October 5, 2012.
The University of Port Harcourt’s innocent students were afterwards mercilessly lynched. This horrific incident rocked the country and raised awareness about extrajudicial executions in Nigeria.
The narrative of these four young men and the events leading up to their tragic deaths will be brought to life in the film “Dark October,” which was made by award-winning Nigerian director Toka McBaror. The lynching’s aftermath and its effects on the victims’ families, friends, and the neighborhood will also be covered in depth.
“This film is a powerful and important story that needs to be told,” said Linda Ikeji, the producer of the film.
“We hope it will spark a conversation about the dangers of extrajudicial killings and the importance of ensuring justice for all.”
“We are excited to be able to bring this story to life on the big screen and to be able to give a voice to these young men and their families, we are honoured to be a part of this project and to work with Linda Ikeji and Toka McBaror to bring this important story to the world,” said FilmOne Founders, Moses Babatope and Kene Okwuosa.
“We hope this film will help to bring about change and to ensure that something like this never happens again. It’s a reminder of the importance of holding those in power accountable and the need for justice for all.”
The purpose of the film is to raise awareness of this terrible incident and to act as a reminder of the value of justice and fair treatment for all. The movie will portray the victims’ humanity and the toll that their deaths have taken on their families. It will also depict how the incident affected both the locality and the country as a whole.
Chuks Joseph, Munachi Okpara, Kem-Ajieh Ikechukwu, and Kelechukwu Oriaku, four brilliant newbies, are among the cast members of the movie.
On February 3rd, 2023, Dark October will make its debut on Netflix.
