Police Kills Robbery Suspect In Oshodi

One robbery suspect was killed, according to the Lagos State Police Command, as his group was exchanging gunfire with the police force’s agents in the Oshodi area.

Fidel Info reports that SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed the event on Thursday to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Hundeyin, the incident took place on Akinpelu-Oshodi Road on December 24 at 3 a.m.

He claimed that during a stop-and-search operation, the anti-robbery operators of the Akinpelu police division came upon the robbery group.

The police responded quickly to the suspected armed robbers’ fire after they spotted them and opened fire on them, according to the police spokesman.

According to Hundeyin, two other suspects were wounded by bullets but were able to flee, while one of the suspects was fatally shot during the incident.

He said efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects, and he appealed to members of the public and health workers to report to the police any one found with bullet wounds.

The Police PRO said one locally-made pistol, one Elepaq generator, and 15 computer UPS were recovered from the suspect.

79 People Arrested For Electoral Offences In Sokoto

Following the recently ended governor and state assembly elections in the state, the Sokoto state Police Command has detained 79 people for a variety of offenses.

Fidel Info reports that A statement written by the command public relations officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanusi Abubakar, states that those detained would undergo a comprehensive investigation to determine their level of involvement.

In accordance with the legal team of INEC, the majority of the suspects would be punished for offenses that violated election laws, according to the statement.

“Other suspects arrested for Offences under the penal code will be charged to court by the police”.

” The State Police Command Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security management have during the conduct of the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in Sokoto State, recorded cases and effected arrest  of persons that violated  restriction of movement order and other offences that contravened the electoral act such as vote buying, destruction of ballot boxes, political thuggery, threats and inciting public disturbances at Polling units among others”. Says the statement.

”A total of 79 suspects were arrested during the period for electoral offenses and other sundry crimes which the Police promised to fully investigate and if necessary  transfer over to INEC for prosecution.”

“In view of the foregoing, the Commissioner of  Police Sokoto State Command  Muhammed Usaini Gumel enjoin all members of the public to be wary of allowing themselves, their love ones or their political party affiliates from getting involve in actions that are totally repugnant to natural justice, equity and good conscience of law, especially in view of the forthcoming supplementary elections in the State.” the command elaborated.

The statement went on to say that the state’s security agencies had reassured the populace that they were dedicated to protecting their lives and property and that any disgruntled individuals trying to undermine security would not be spared before, during, or after the upcoming supplementary exercise.

Canadian Visa Scammer Arrested By EFCC In Abuja

Enock Ogungbamigbe was detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday. He is accused of being a serial visa scammer who specializes in using phony job and visa offers to con desperate Nigerians into immigrating to Canada to work or further their education.

Fidel Info reports that When he showed up for a meeting to obtain a visa for a candidate planning to go to Canada, the 32-year-old man who owns a garden in the Abuja suburb of Mpape was picked up at the Transcorp Hotel by agents of the anti-graft organization.

He was unaware that it was bait.

This was disclosed in a statement released on Friday by Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s director of media and publicity.

He noted that Ogungbamigbe’s arrest followed a petition by a victim who lost N5 million to the suspect as processing fees for visa to Canada.

Uwujaren said, “The suspect had also promised the victim a job upon arrival in Canada. But he only delivered fake Visas to his victims and all efforts to recover the money were futile.

“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.”

Police Vow To Arrest Southern Kaduna Killings Culprits

The Kaduna State Police Command has stated that all of those responsible for the recent incident in Southern Kaduna will face harsh punishment in accordance with the law.

Fidel Info reports that DSP Muhammad Jalige, the command’s public relations officer, confirmed to news reporters in Kaduna, the state’s capital, that gunmen had really assaulted the southern region of the state early on Sunday.

The police spokesman stated that security personnel were in control of the situation and that all of the involved criminals will be apprehended.

He said, “From the briefing, I received from the Area Commander, trouble started a couple of days ago when a boy rearing cattle was murdered.

“We have been trying to manage the situation while investigating the sad occurrence before trouble broke out.”
