Reno Omokri, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and advisor to the President, has counseled the party’s leaders to get Rotimi Amachi, a former minister of transportation, back into their ranks.
Fidel Info reports that On Wednesday, Omokri posted this message to Twitter in response to the G5 scandal, which involved the party’s five disgruntled governors.
According to sources, the G5 arrived in London on Tuesday for a pivotal meeting at which they would decide whether to support Bola Tinubu or Peter Obi, the candidates for president of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party, respectively.
The five governors are Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Nyesom Wike of Rivers. They have been at odds with the PDP’s leadership and have demanded the resignation of Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman.
Omokri advised PDP leaders, including presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, the party’s chairperson, Ayu, and others, to do everything in their power to hold on to Wike, who has been the frontrunner among the disgruntled governors, in response to the G5 trip to London.
He, then, added they should bring back Amaechi, if Wike eventually aligned with any of the opposition parties, stressing that the former minister started his political career with PDP.
Omokri stressed that Amaechi and Wike cannot be on the same political ship, hence, an advantage for them to lure the former back to his old party.
“My dear Peoples Democratic Party. Let us do all we can to keep Wike in the PDP. But if, despite our best efforts, he endorses outside the party, let us extend a right hand of fellowship to Rotimi Amaechi. PDP created Amaechi. And we know he can’t coexist with Wike,” Omokri tweeted.
