Kwara State Govt Set To Reward Excellence In Students

The Kwara State Government through the Office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Affairs is set to reward academic excellence and worthy character among Kwara State students, both in the state and beyond.

Fidel Info reports that this gesture is aimed at enhancing the efforts of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led administration in putting the welfare of Kwara students first and encouraging excellence for growth and societal development as this is coming few days after the e-payment of students bursary was flagged-off.

In a meeting held between the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs Hon Mubarak Salau Bello and the leadership of the Students Bodies (the National Association of Nigerian Students and the National Association of Kwara State Students) yesterday in Ilorin, the SA Students’ Affairs said that the awards have two major categories:

The SA Students urged the leadership of the students bodies to work with the heads of various institutions in a bid to arrive at the names of the beneficiary students. It is expected that the National Association of Nigerian Students will come up with names of 12 students representing each institution in the state while the National Association of Kwara State Students will come up with name 10 students across several institutions in the country.

It is imperative to note that the selected students will be subjected to further screening and verification exercise by a soon-to-be inaugurated screening committee in order for the government to arrive at the best among the presented students who will end up, eligibly, for the meritorious awards.

Hon. Mubarak Salau Bello further affirmed that the initiative is borne out of the fact that *His Excellency Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq* is a students-friendly governor who has got the interest of the students and youths in mind for them to continue to excel in their various academic and career pursuits. Hence, the governor is so much committed to continue to put out developmental projects and programmes that will be of good benefits to the generality of Kwara state students.

Also, the Students Leaderships were urged to put in their best to ensure that the selected students are chosen based on merit, devoid of favoritism.

In their responses, the president of NAKSS and the representative of the chairman of NANS appreciated Kwara State government for finding them worthy to be partners in progress. They commended the government for the instinct and wisdom in coming up with a project of the magnitude in the history of the state as they pledged that they will work assiduously in making sure that the goals expected from the projects are achieved.

The award is poised to showcase Kwara State students to the world and have the winners as our dear state ambassadors.

A letter of intent and partnership were presented to the leadership of NANS and NAKSS by the SA students.

However, the SA Students said that upon onward submission of the names, a screening and verification committee will be inaugurated that will include the students bodies, heads of institutions, critical stakeholders, among other.

Non-Indigenes In Kwara State Declare Support For Gov AA

Non-Indigenes in Kwara State have declared a total support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in his re-election bid, pledging to vote overwhelmingly for him in the forthcoming election.

Fidel Info reports that they made this known at a consolidative forum meeting where they said they would continue to cooperate and support the administration of Governor AbdulRazaq.

In a statement by the Total Coordinator of the Amalgamated Non-Indigenes Associations, Barrister Adokutu Jafaru Ibie, previous administrations were condemned for playing politics of exclusion with non-indigenes in the state.

“Past governors only remember non-indigenes when it comes to getting our votes during electioneering periods. This time around, however, only the AbdulRazaq administration in the history of Kwara State has truly accorded non-indigenes the required recognition in the governance of the state.

“This is one government every non-indigene from the six geo-political zones of the country resident in Kwara must appreciate and work and accept for fulfilling promises made to the people. We’ll ever remember Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as a promise keeper, and has truly activated the substance of his promises to the people of the six geo-political zones resident in Kwara State.”

Adokutu urged non-indigenes in the state not to be swayed by the deceit of opposition, telling them to queue behind the ruling APC in the forthcoming election.

“We accept the reorganization process of the Senior Special Assistant to the  Governor on Non-Indigenes, Hon. Caleb Ono Bobi, which has helped to better reposition all affiliate associations, clubs, unions etc of non-indigenes resident in Kwara State. He advised non-indigenes not to allow themselves to be swayed by the deceits of opposition parties in the state but to queue behind the All Progressives Congress led administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to return his government to power in  at the March elections.

“In the same vein, the President of the South-South Community in Kwara, Sir Christopher Ozonuwe appealed to all non-indigenes in the state to be very watchful of political hawks during this election year so that they do not fall to their empty promises and open deceits but to always align with the purposeful governance of the current administration of  AbdulRazaq.

“Our SSA and other government appointees on Inter-Community Relations are men of good professional and intellectual clout. So, we believe the governor has truly done us a good turn by appointing them into his cabinet. We are solidly behind them in the onerous task to re-elect our governor for another four years of untarnished governance of our Kwara State.”

Adokutu also announced that non-indigenes in the state will carry out a Non-Indigenes Solidarity Rally for the Governor’s second term re-election soon.
