How Ex-KW-IRS Chief, Prof Awodun used personal company to secure KWIRS contract under him: Investigation

Published

on

Details have emerged about how former Chairman Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) Prof. Murtala Awodun used his own personal company, CSDC Consulting Enterprise Solutions, to secure multibillion naira consultancy contract.

As a public officer, it is considered a criminal breach of public trust for a serving official to bid for and win contracts under the same company he heads. Perhaps oblivious to the consequences, Awodun was said in a Thisday interview of September 10, 2022 to be the chief operating officer of the CSDC Consulting Enterprise Solutions.

Audit report recently released on the activities of key MDAs under the former administration showed how Awodun’s CSDC got the contract to provide a software called Amanda at a mouthwatering amount. Even though the software never really delivered as agreed, KW-IRS under Awodun continued to pay the firm for a software that never worked.

“CSDC Enterprise Solutions was supposed to provide solution (software) called ‘Amanda’ to the KWIRS according to the Memorandum of Understanding provided. We were told that the software was deployed to few points but because it was not effective, the Service did not use the software, various sums were paid to the company on a monthly basis,” according to excerpts of the audit report seen by this medium.

“Furthermore, the purported sum due to this Company was being taken out of KWIRS through the staff of the Service (Ibrahim Saliu, Michael Dada, Fausat Ismail, IOD and Prodemics Global Investment on the approval of the Chairman.”

Lawyers who reviewed the report categorised the conduct of Awodun as criminal misappropriation and recommended that he be referred to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission or the ICPC for various malfeasance.

The audit report had revealed several sordid deals at KWIRS under Awodun whose tenure has come under scrutinies.

IEPY Slams Saraki Over Unguarded Statements Against Emir

Published

on

A sociocultural group, Ilorin Emirate Progressive Youths (IEPY) has carpeted former senate president, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, over his unguarded utterances against the Ilorin Emirate.

Fidel Info reports that IEPY in a statement on Monday signed by its Chairman, Engr. Bolaji Sadiq, expressed surprise that despite being a ranking traditional title holder of the Emirate (Waziri), Saraki could still be going about spiting the Emir and the Emirate.

The former senate president in reports of news mediums pledged to tear the Emirate structure apart by removing Moro out of it. Moro has always been a part of the Ilorin Emirate.

We understand that this pledge was dictated by his desperate need for sympathy votes to awaken his dead party. That was why he tried to wooed the Moro people with this sentiment during his tour to the community. However, our Emirate is not what politicians should use to play politics.

We are displeased that Dr. Saraki has not been portraying the Emirate in good light in recent times. We saw videos of how he came home some months back and on his way to the Ilorin Central Mosque was throwing wads of naira into the air for our people to hustle over, which might lead to stampede or even violence. This is apart from the dehumanising picture that such act paints to our people.

We recall that it was that same day he was dragging seat at the central mosque with the President’s Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari. Apart from his position as chief of staff to the number one citizen, Prof. Gambari is also a prince of Ilorin Emirate. We hope Saraki is not waging war against the Ilorin Emirate because he can never succeed in such. Promising traditional rulers in some parts of the state that his PDP government if supported will rotate the chairmanship position of the Kwara State Traditional Council is targeted at our revered Emir who has always been the Chairman of the Council.

We therefore use this platform to caution Dr. Bukola Saraki to guard his utterances and stop fueling discord because of politics. Politics would soon go but what he has said would remain.
