UPDATE: My Day Will Come ,Olawepo-Hashim Withdraws From 2023 Presidential Race

Published

After series of consultations and reflections on current developments on the political scene, a frontline presidential aspirant in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has bowed out of the 2023 presidential contest, saying his “own day will come.”

In a statement from his media office in Abuja on Friday, Mr. Olawepo-Hashim explained that though his decision to contest was to offer a national platform for progressive forces who believe in the necessity and possibility of a new Nigeria, capable of securing itself from internal and external threats, and bring prosperity to all her people, but “certain developments have necessitated my withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race, as a result of which I did not pick the nomination form.”

He added that he is “retreating not out of the lack of will to fight for our resolve and collective aspiration for a New Nigeria, a struggle which has attracted enormous support. Sometimes WILL and RESOLVE, Energy and Preparation may not be enough to engage in an encounter.”

He equally maintained that his aspiration “is not an ambition but an historic burden , as a team player.”

My current political pursuit must now bow to our collective National interest. It is not about me but about Nigeria,” he said.

According to him, “I stepped aside believing that another day will come. I hope our party will still be able to find a candidate for the 2023 election that will unite and secure our country. One that will lead an inclusive government, and build a prosperous economy that will not leave anyone behind. I leave the race believing that by the Grace of God my own day will come!”

He expressed gratitude to those who have connected with his messages and those who have offered support and prayers, assuring that pausing his Presidential run is not quitting the struggle for a better Nigeria, “a struggle I have committed myself to the better part of my adult life.”

It is a tough decision for me, but in the present circumstance it is the best thing in my judgement to do,” he added

2023 : One Good Turn Deserves Another As Kwara North Elders Endorses AbdulRazaq, Senator Sadiq For Second Term

Elders of the rulling party,All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara North senatorial district have declared their support for Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Senator Sadiq Umar’s re-election for a second term.

The FidelinfoNews gathered that the APC Elders, in an address prepared by Ambassador Nuruddeen Mohammed, addressed a press conference in Ilorin today Tuesday, saying that the only task left for party delegates at the upcoming party’s primary election on May 26, 2022 is to nominate the governor because no aspirant has expressed intention to contest against him.

“It has been widely acknowledged by our party members and people in the five local government areas of Kwara North senatorial district that the incumbent Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar has performed and served the people of Kwara North senatorial district with humility, most diligently in the past three years of coming to office,” they added.

“We, therefore, feel that he deserves another opportunity to serve our people and do much more for them,” said the party elders, who based their support for the governor on his stellar performance over the last three years. It is said that “one good turn deserves another.”

Mohammed added “Our position, which is contrary to the decision of the main opposition party, the PDP, which announced recently that its own candidate should emerge from Kwara North Senatorial District, is borne out of the fact that the incumbent and high performing governor, Mallam

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is constitutionally entitled to second term of office.

“We are also giving him our support for his re-nomination for the office of governor again because of the fact that in the history of Kwara state, no governor or administrator except him, has done so much to develop the entire state and in particular, Kwara North Senatorial District, in just three years of administration of Kwara state.

“We, therefore, feel that he deserves another opportunity to serve our people and do much more for them. One good turn, it is said, deserves another.”
