Yekini Nabena Caution APC Presidential Aspirants Over Hate Speech

Published

on

Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Yekini Nabena, has cautioned supporters of various presidential aspirants to avoid hate speech and slurs demarketing whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer.

This is as he urged party members to embrace issue-based campaigns rather than attack each other saying “it is too early to be unnecessarily emotive.”

Nabena’s warning is contained in a statement he signed on Monday where he noted that negative comments pelted at party members could be weaponised by the opposition.

He said aspirants and their various supporters should see themselves as one and play up the advantages of the APC.

“My appeal is for all our members to embrace issues-based campaign strategies in selling whoever they feel should succeed our dear President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. There is no need to be unnecessarily emotive about it.

“I believe that all our presidential aspirants are well qualified to pick the ticket. It is a fact that participatory democracy gives room for choices even within the same political party as it is a practice in the APC.

“We should therefore engage constructively without demonising ourselves bearing in mind that whatever we say against each other now will later be capitalized on by other political parties during the general elections,” he said.

According to him, whoever emerges as the party presidential candidate during the primaries must extend the olive branch to others because the party cannot be divided if it must win an election.

Nabena also expressed the belief that the party would give a level-playing field to all aspirants during the primary and support whoever emerges as the candidate of the party.

He tasked party members who were already attacking aspirants against their principals to embrace civility.

“It is also important not to distract both the party and some of our aspirants who are still holding one position of responsibility or the other. We should not deny Nigerians dividends of democracy we promised by unnecessarily heating up the polity,” he said.

2023 : One Good Turn Deserves Another As Kwara North Elders Endorses AbdulRazaq, Senator Sadiq For Second Term

Elders of the rulling party,All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara North senatorial district have declared their support for Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Senator Sadiq Umar’s re-election for a second term.

The FidelinfoNews gathered that the APC Elders, in an address prepared by Ambassador Nuruddeen Mohammed, addressed a press conference in Ilorin today Tuesday, saying that the only task left for party delegates at the upcoming party’s primary election on May 26, 2022 is to nominate the governor because no aspirant has expressed intention to contest against him.

“It has been widely acknowledged by our party members and people in the five local government areas of Kwara North senatorial district that the incumbent Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar has performed and served the people of Kwara North senatorial district with humility, most diligently in the past three years of coming to office,” they added.

“We, therefore, feel that he deserves another opportunity to serve our people and do much more for them,” said the party elders, who based their support for the governor on his stellar performance over the last three years. It is said that “one good turn deserves another.”

Mohammed added “Our position, which is contrary to the decision of the main opposition party, the PDP, which announced recently that its own candidate should emerge from Kwara North Senatorial District, is borne out of the fact that the incumbent and high performing governor, Mallam

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, is constitutionally entitled to second term of office.

“We are also giving him our support for his re-nomination for the office of governor again because of the fact that in the history of Kwara state, no governor or administrator except him, has done so much to develop the entire state and in particular, Kwara North Senatorial District, in just three years of administration of Kwara state.

“We, therefore, feel that he deserves another opportunity to serve our people and do much more for them. One good turn, it is said, deserves another.”
