Saraki Rattled By Failure Of PDP Reconciliation Efforts, Flees Nigeria

Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation committee and Former President of the Senate Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki has reportedly left the country.

The FidelinfoNews gathered that Saraki made a stop in Atlanta, Georgia to pay a courtesy call on Senator Ademola Adeleke and his Big Brother Dr Adedeji Adeleke before departing to New York.

Saraki’s hurried departure may not be unconnected with the unprecedented and embarrassing gale of defections of PDP members to the ruling APC.

His travails is not limited to the national level alone, as party members locally in Saraki’s state, have keyed into the gale of defections cutting across all states of the federation.

Alhaji Suleiman Buhari, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara state has resigned his membership of the party.

Suleiman, who until his resignation was the State Organizing Secretary of the PDP in Kwara state, was also a former State Chairman of Congress for Progressive Change, CPC before the merger with other political parties that formed APC.

It was gathered that the former PDP chieftain had prior to his resignation, removed himself from all WhatsApp groups related to Kwara politics, including Saraki loyalists groups.

In a related development, some PDP leaders have concluded talks with the Chairman, Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC), Governor Mai Mala Buni on their defection to the APC.

Unverified reports making the rounds indicate that more governors elected on the platform of the PDP are also planning to defect to the APC anytime soon. One of the governors named in the reports is Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state.

Interestingly, the governor has not debunked the reports linking him with plans to dump the PDP even as the rumour has continued to gain traction in the media space.

Consequently Zamfara State Governor,Bello Mohammed Matawalle has officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC, , alongside some Federal and state legislators, as well as thousands of supporters.

Matawalle while addressing supporters on the defection said “If I didn’t join the APC before President Buhari wraps up his Presidency in 2023; I would have regretted not being part of his success.”

He also revealed that Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri will also follow suit in dumping the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling APC.

Apathy mars PDP congress in Kwara, As Prominent Members Stay-off

There was low turnout of members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, during the state congress held in Kwara state, today, September 25th 2021.

The internecine war within the state chapter of the party may likely be responsible for this poor turnout of party members for the congress.

Prominent among the causes of this boycott is the power play between the former President of the Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and a former Minister and current Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies , NILDS, Prof Abubakar Sulaiman.

A group loyal to Sulaiman had in press release prior to today’s congress stated that the current executives who were elected in 2018 are expected to spend four years tenure according to the Constitution of the party, vowing to drag the party to court.

Findings show that the former Kwara political lord has received the blessings of the national leadership of the party to change the executives of the party in Kwara state and take control, a development which surprisingly is being resisted by Sulaiman, a beneficiary of Saraki’s patronage, having been assisted with his present appointment during Saraki’s reign as President of the Senate.

According to an inside source, Sulaiman had been avoiding prior political interface with Saraki, choosing to offer excuses for his absence at pressing political engagements.

Many prominent members of the party also stayed away from the Congress in apparent support for the constitutional rights of the present executives across the 16 local government areas of the state.

With this face-off, there is the likelihood of a forced takeover of the Kwara PDP by Saraki, since he enjoins the support of the national secretariat of the party.

The fate of the executives and members loyal to Sulaiman is dangling, and may be determined at a meeting to hold sometime next week in Ilorin.
