APYF Debunks Rumors Of Decamping To YPP, Urges Members To Shun Rumor Mongers

The Kwara State Chapter of the All Progressives Youth Forum (APYF), a youth group in the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked viral rumours that its coordinators had joined YPP over the the weekend.

A statement by the APYF Director of publicity, Muhammed Solihu obtained by the FidelinfoNews stated that its members had declared unflinching support for the leader APC and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq following his unprecedented achievements, hence such defection rumors were false and malicious.

“For the records, while APYF Kwara State will not deny that the said Muhammad Baba Suleiman has had an affiliation with Kwara APYF in the capacity of Coordinator of Edu Local Government, it is also important to emphatically state that he was for over seven months suspended indefinitely both as a coordinator and as a member of APYF for engaging in anti-party (APC) activities which are also in contravention of APYF rules of engagement”, the statement read in parts.

It added “Moreover, on the statement credited to the so called Kwara State YPP Chairman; it is a well known fact the so-called YPP Chairman is a political jobber and machant, with questionable antecedents, who always find comfort in environments devoid of decurum and where manipulative tendencies hold sway. Perhaps one of the reasons why the word ‘Coordinators’ was shamelessly used instead of “Coordinator” because the story only referred to a local government coordinator”.

It further stated “If not, how could any youth in his right frame of mind like the YPP Chairman be making frantic but fruitless efforts to discredit an administration that has given so much to the youth in terms engagement and assigning of responsibilities?”

“Kwara APYF can conveniently say that about 80% of youths formed parts of the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s led administration, with some as cabinet members and some heading strategic agences. This also cut across to the local government level, and these youths are all fantastically doing well, and of course Kwara APYF is proud of them.

“The Kwara State YPP Chairman is just being an embittered loser, whose character can never fit-in with the AbdulRazaq’s led administration; guided by the principle transparency and accountability, drive towards the delivery of good governance to the masses that elected him”

The group therefore urged our unsuspecting youths across the state particularly in APC, to disregard any information or invitations from YPP, as their major strategy is to manipulate and deceive people to join their party, as demonstrated in their recent event where many were decieved to join the party through a purpoted programme meant to be for empowerment.

DSS Invites Sheikh Gumi Over Allegation Of Military-Bandits’ Collusion In Attacks On Citizens

It has been reported that the State Security Service, also known as the Department of State Services (DSS) has invited controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, for questioning.

The VOA Hausa reported the DSS invitation, days after a controversy between Gumi and the Nigerian Army.

Speaking on an interview on ARISE Television on Wednesday, Gumi had alleged that security agents played a role in the insecurity plaguing Nigeria by collaborating with the bandits who engage in killing and kidnapping for ransom.

The Nigerian Army had replied to Gumi, same day saying his statement is both sad and unfortunate.

The Director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, had said that “the sweeping allegation peddled by the scholar is not only sad and unfortunate, but a calculated attempt to denigrate the Nigerian military and undermine the sacrifices of our patriotic troops, who are working tirelessly to restore peace and stability across the country.

“It is essential to remind ourselves that these same military, being accused of connivance, are the ones who recently put their lives on the line to rescue abductees of the Government Secondary School, Birnin Yawuri from kidnappers.

“While the army will not attempt to excuse the possibility of black sheep amongst its fold, it must be stated unambiguously that it will not condone any form of sabotage or aiding and assisting the enemy by any personnel, as provisions for dealing decisively with such acts are crystallised in Section 45 (1) of the Armed Forces Act CAP A 20 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.

“It must also be pointed out, that while the military is very much receptive to constructive criticism, it should not be perceived as a gateway for derogatory comments that have the potential to embolden criminals. It is also necessary to reiterate that patriotism must be taken to a trajectory where subversive conversations on the state are brought to the barest minimum.

“Opinion leaders are enjoined to demonstrate patriotism in building the peace, rather than being agents of distabilisation, thereby aggravating the current security challenges facing the nation.”

Gumi is known for making controversial statements regarding bandits and killer herdsmen.

On Wednesday, he had described bandits and killer herdsmen’s atrocities as “a tribal war,” accusing the government of taking sides.

“What you call banditry when you cross to the other side, you find out Nigeria is fighting a tribal war,” he explained.
