The growing rift between the River state Governor Nyesom Wike and his Cross River state counterpart Ben Ayade hit another dimension this weekend with Governor Wike responding to comments earlier made by Ayade.
The FidelinfoNews gathered that Gov. Ayade while receiving Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed during the weekend had said “I have always played politics with ethics, but over time, I have come to realise that ethical politics is mistaken for weakness, I cannot blind myself to the challenges of PDP and decide not to know what to do at the right time for their sake.”
He warned that, “One single injustice and I say it as a warning, because it does appear that your party (PDP) seems to celebrate people who threaten and stress them, So if you take a catalytic combination of all I have said, it tells you that there is the need for a guided caution prosifuting at some persons going forward as a people, as a party”.
While reacting to Ayade’s statement, Wike said “If you want to talk about us, come out and be bold and talk about Rivers State, I am not a 419 governor. When Federal Government refunded us money, I came and announced it, some of them, they were given the same money with me, did they announce it to their state?”, Wike said.
“I challenge the one (Ayade) that was talking last night, invite people to come and commission projects, It’s not to shortchange your people, carry their forest reserve and sell as timber, It’s not by force, it’s not by propaganda, it’s not by giving budget that’s unrealistic, fraudulent budget, a very poor state will be giving budgets of over one trillion when Rivers state cannot give a budget of N400 billion”.

“Focus On Nigeria’s Problems, Stop Poaching Our Governors” – PDP tells APC
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to focus on solving the many issues currently bedeviling the country, rather than poaching PDP governors and members.
The FidelinfoNews gathered that this assertion was made when the PDP Governors Forum led by Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal Visited their Zamfara State counterpart, Bello Matawalle, to commiserate with him over the Tutuwada Market fire, the governors also made an N100 million donation to the Zamfara state government to help ease victim’s plight.
A statement by Rivers State Governor’s media Aide, Kelvin Ebiri noted that Tambuwal said the APC had opted to play petty politics with the victim’s misfortune instead of genuinely commiserating with the people of the state who have been grappling with insecurity and the latest fire incident.
Tambuwal further urged the APC to desist from playing politics and save Nigerians from the prevailing high level of insecurity and poverty.
While also speaking, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike said “All of us know today the level of insecurity in Nigeria. Instead of APC concentrating and fight insecurity, what the party is doing is moving from one state to the other to poach people. Now, you can imagine the insult, a party in Federal Government that declared Zamfara a no-flight zone, the same party is coming to woo you to join them. I can’t understand it.”
Wike also urged Matawalle not to be intimidated by the antics of the APC, who he accused of fuelling the insecurity in the state.
