JUST IN: Kwara Commissioner For Special Duties, Ahman Patigi Resigns

The Kwara state Commisioner For Special Duties, Aishat Ahman Patigi has resigned hee appointment as the Kwara state Commisioner.

Aishat who was formerly the state’s Commisioner For Local Government and Chieftaincy Title and laterly transferred to the ministry of special duties following Minor Reshuffling of cabinet by the governor.

In a statement personally signed by her, the former Commisioner thanked the state Governor for bringing her into politics and also considering her worthy of an appointment into the state executive council, a gesture she said she will always remain appreciative of.

The statement reads:

“I, Aisha Ahman Pategi, the outgoing Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties, effective from today, Friday 28th August, 2020, humbly wish to formally announce my resignation from the cabinet of His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

“I wish to thank God Almighty for giving me the grace and opportunity to serve as Commissioner for Local Government and now exiting as Commissioner for Special Duties, serving my fellow Kwarans and representing Pategi Local Government in our drive to better the lot of Kwarans.

“Life is in phases and I’m bold to say that having journeyed the political terrain with His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, now is the time for me to leave and focus on new ideals.

“Going forward, my interest in Community Service and Grassroots’ Development will continue.

“Once again, I would like to thank Almighty Allah, the People of Patigi, Kwarans, our dear party APC and most of all, His Excellency for bringing me into politics. May Allah reward him and continue to be his guide as he pilots the affairs of our dear State.

“God bless Pategi, Kwara and Nigeria.

“With love and gratitude to All,

Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the Commisioner as at press time to confirm the veritablility of the press statement was futile.

Presidency Reveals Why Buhari Did Not Speak on Lekki Shooting In State Broadcast

The Presidency, on Saturday disclosed why President Muhammadu Buhari did not mention the Lekki toll gate shooting in his nationwide broadcast addressing the issue of #EndSARS.

Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, disclosed that his principal did not mention the shooting because it would be “premature and presumptuous.”

The Fidelinfo gathered that, Adesina, while appearing on Channels Television’s programme, Politics Today, explained that the shooting was being investigated by the military.

He said: “The Defence Headquarters issued a statement to say that it was investigating the matter. Lagos State Governor has also set up a probe panel to investigate what really happened.

“So, the President couldn’t have said anything because it would be premature and presumptuous while investigation is ongoing.

“It is after investigation has been concluded that he can speak on the matter.”

Buhari had received some backlash from Nigerians over his silence on the Lekki shooting recorded carried out by soldiers.

Curfew: Kwara Govt Exempts Essential Workers

The Kwara state government has exempted essential workers from the 24-hour curfew in the state.

The state government said the exempted essential workers are media workerse, bankers, health workers and others.

The Fidelinfo gathered that development was contained in a statement made available by Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin, Hon. Commissioner for Communications

The statement reads:

“This is to exempt persons who qualify as essential workers from the 24-hour curfew declared by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

“Those covered in the exemption are health workers; media workers (journalists); petrol station workers; bankers. Such persons would only be accorded such privilege if they present their valid (work place) identity cards identifying them as such.

“The government regrets the inconvenience the curfew may cause the citizenry but it is necessary to maintain law and order at this critical time.

The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has imposes a curfew in the state capital starting from 12 midnight on Friday.

The Fidelinfo gathered that the governor made the announcement while addressing the state on Friday.

The curfew becomes necessary as thugs invades government warehouse and looted palliatives and relief materials.
