A 400 Level student of the better by far University of Ilorin, Mr Adeshina Musowir, a student of the department of electrical/electronics, faculty of engineering joined forces with a 400 level student of the department of Physics with Electronics, Ajayi Crowther University and 2 others to help prevent the spread of corona virus by building a solar-powered automatic hand washing, rinsing, and drying machine, the project was commended by Oyo state government.
At the display of the project in the ministry of education on Tuesday 19th May 2020, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Matters, Mr. Olojede Victor remarked that it’s a thing of joy to see students of the state rising to contribute her own quota in supporting the government at this trying time.
The SA, Students emphasized that he will ensure that the government at all levels in the state partner with the young, brilliant students and also see to it that the project is approved for use in Oyo State. He also assured that through his office, the state government will continue to promote and support the innovation of students.
Present at the test running of the prototype was the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olabamiwo Adeosun who commended the students for making judicious use of the pandemic period to profer a stress-free preventive measure to covid-19.
The Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Bisi Ilaka in his remark applauded the student inventors for a job well done and thereby enjoined other students to emulate their colleagues who have made the entire student populace of the state proud.
The Permanent Secretary, Education, Science and Technology, Mrs. Atere congratulated the students for taking the opportunity of the pandemic to think of this great initiative.
“I want to appreciate you for this laudable innovation more importantly at a time when our youths are into internet fraud. You have created an idea that if the state government keys into, will also make you an employer of labour.”
Others who witnessex the display of prototype are the Commissioner for Education, Mr. Olasunkanmi Aremu Olaleye, Deputy Chief of Staff to the state governor, Mr. Olawale Mogbonjubola, Directors at the ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports Development, Mr. Tobi Oyewumi, and Executive adviser to the governor on Agricultural business Mr. Debo Akande, not forgetting the Special Assistant to the governor on New Media, Mr. Olamide and the official photographer to the Governor Mr. Jesse Onoriode.
